Exemption and Adaptation Commission Terms of Reference

Purpose of the Commission

Students;

  • Recognition of previous education (horizontal/vertical transfer, YKS, international equivalence),
  • Evaluation of course exemption requests according to objective criteria,
  • To ensure the efficiency of educational processes by preventing the loss of academic rights.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities

A. Application Evaluation

  1. Document Analysis:
    • Check the compliance of transcripts, course contents, ECTS credits with YÖK/YÖKAK criteria
  2. Equivalence Criteria:
    • The course at the previous institution; content, credits, and practice hours overlap with the current schedule by at least 75%
  3. Special Assessment in Technical Courses:
    • Practical exam/interview requirement for courses such as programming languages (Java/Python/C#), database management

B. Decision Processes

  1. Exemption Confirmation:
    • "Exemption Confirmation"  for accepted courses
  2. Justification for Refusal:
    • Reasoned explanation of rejection decisions in writing

C. Adaptation Procedures

  1. Transfer Orientation Plan:
    •  Preparing a make-up course list for academic differences
  2. Curriculum Mismatch Solution:
    • Summer school or additional course recommendations for missing credits
  3. DYS Integration:
    • Processing of approved exemptions into university automation (OBS)
